Google Calendar sync

Connect Google Calendar and your two calendars stay in step: bookings taken on Slot’d appear in Google, and time you’re already busy in Google stops clients booking over it.

Connecting is optional and off by default. Slot’d has no access to your calendar until you connect it yourself, and none after you disconnect.

What it does

Slot’d → Google. When a booking is made, rescheduled or cancelled, the matching event is created, moved or removed on your Google Calendar. Marking a booking as a no-show also removes its event; completed bookings stay. Each event is titled with the service and the client’s name, and includes any notes the client left.

Google → Slot’d. Events on your main Google Calendar mark you busy, so those times stop being offered to clients. This is what prevents a client booking you during something Slot’d doesn’t know about — a dentist appointment, another job, a school run.

A few details:

Slot’d checks Google for changes every 15 minutes, so a new event can take up to that long to block time.
All-day events block the whole day. An event that spans several days only blocks its first day — block the rest in Scheduling → Date overrides.
Busy time from Google appears in your Scheduling → Date overrides list, labelled “Google:”, and shaded on your Slot’d calendar.
If you have a team, busy time from Google blocks everyone, not just you.

Deleting a booking’s event in Google

If you delete a Slot’d booking’s event in Google Calendar, Slot’d cancels that appointment and notifies the client. It does not refund a deposit or reopen the Slot. When money or a Slot is involved, cancel from Slot’d instead — see Managing bookings.

Connecting

Settings → Calendar → Connect Google Calendar. Google asks you to sign in and approve the access described below; approving returns you to Slot’d, which shows Connected and the Google account you linked. The Google Calendar button on the Calendar page takes you straight to these settings.

If Google shows a screen saying it hasn’t verified the app, choose Advanced, then continue to Slot’d, to finish connecting.

Exactly what Slot’d asks for

Two permissions, and no others:

`https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email`	Read the email address of the Google account you connected, so Slot’d can show you which account is linked.

What Slot’d does not ask for. There is no request for Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or anything outside Calendar. Slot’d cannot read your mail or your files, because it never asks for permission to.

What Slot’d reads, and what it stores

For each event on your calendar that Slot’d didn’t create, Slot’d keeps a busy block with the event’s date, start and end time, and title (shortened, shown as “Google: title”). The title is kept so you can tell in Date overrides what’s blocking a day. Guests, descriptions and locations of those events are not stored.

Slot’d also stores the connection itself and the link between each Slot’d appointment and the Google event it created, so a later reschedule or cancellation updates the right one.

Your calendar data is never sold and never used for advertising.

Disconnecting

Settings → Calendar → Disconnect. This revokes Slot’d’s access with Google immediately and deletes the stored connection. You can also revoke it from your Google Account permissions page — either way, Slot’d stops having access at once.

Disconnecting stops future sync; it doesn’t erase what’s already there:

Events Slot’d wrote to Google stay. Delete any you don’t want in Google Calendar, as normal.
Busy blocks already copied from Google stay in Slot’d and keep blocking those times. Remove any you no longer want in Scheduling → Date overrides.

If sync stops working

Reconnect first — Settings → Calendar → Disconnect, then Connect Google Calendar again. That resolves nearly everything, because it mints a fresh token.

Sync covers the main calendar of the Google account you connected, not other calendars you’ve added in that account. If you keep work in a second Google account, connect the one your working calendar actually lives in.
