Sharing Slots

Slots are built to be shared. Every Slot has its own link (slotd.app/book/your-handle/slot/…) and a branded link-preview card, so posting it anywhere turns one opening into something a client can claim.

Share links need a published booking page. If yours isn’t published yet, Slot’d tells you to publish it in Settings first.

Is the Slot still open?

  1. Enter details and intake answers, then claim. The seat is theirs the moment they submit. First to claim wins.
  2. If the Slot takes a deposit, they pay by card (Stripe). They have 15 minutes to finish paying.
  3. Paid in time → Booked. Not paid in time → the claim is cancelled and the seat reopens.
Claimed, full, or passed
  1. They're told the Slot is no longer available and can pick another open Slot on your page.
  2. If that service has no open Slots, they can join its waitlist.
  3. A Slot for that service opens (newly posted, or freed by a cancellation) → the waitlist gets alerted with a link to your page. First to claim wins.

    Booked

    The appointment lands on your calendar, the client gets a confirmation email and their Slot Pass, and reminders go out based on your notification settings.

Group Slots: each seat is claimed (and paid for, if needed) on its own until the Slot is full. Then it stops taking claims.

Where to share from

  • Right after you create a Slot. The confirmation screen shows the link and the share buttons.
  • Any time from the Slots page. On the Open tab, tap Share on a Slot’s card.

The share buttons

  • Share… opens your phone’s or browser’s own share sheet, where available. On a phone this is the easiest route to Messages, Facebook, X, Messenger, and anything else you have installed.
  • Instagram and TikTok don’t accept shared links, so Slot’d copies the link and opens the app. Paste it into your bio, story, or post.
  • WhatsApp opens a message with the link filled in.
  • Facebook, X, and LinkedIn buttons also show on a computer. On a phone, use Share… for those.
  • Copy link, Email, and Text are always at the end.

The message that goes with the link names the service, day, time, and price, like “Claim this Slot — Haircut, Sat, Jun 14 at 2:00 PM · $40”.

When you paste a Slot link into a messaging app or social feed, it unfurls into a preview card with your business name and logo, the price, the service, and the day and time. The card keeps up with the Slot:

  • Open — “First to claim wins.”
  • Claimed — once every seat is taken, the card says “Claimed — join the waitlist.”
  • Passed — if the time passes with nobody claiming it, the preview says the Slot has passed and shows your general business card instead of the Slot. There’s no dead “book me” preview.

Some apps keep an old preview for a while after it was first shared, so a link posted earlier may still show its original card.

The “first to claim wins” mechanic

A shared Slot is public: anyone with the link can claim it, and whoever submits first gets it. That’s the point. It creates urgency and fills openings fast. For group Slots, each seat is claimed separately until the Slot is full.

Your Slots also show on your booking page itself. The soonest ones appear at the top under Grab a Slot — next available, so people who find your main link see them too.

Booking pages and Slot links are made to be shared, not found through Google. Slot’d tells search engines not to list them. To help new clients find you inside Slot’d, see Getting found.
